The Most Important Room in Your Life: Your Bedroom

Your Bedroom is the one room in your life that most affects your ability to be powerful, healthy, happy, and wealthy.

If this room is not perfectly lovely, restful and delicious, you are missing a great opportunity to live a joyous, juicy and rich life.

This one room is where you spend most of your time, where your body needs to renew itself ,where you are most vulnerable, where you reconnect with yourself, Source and Significant Other and where you can have to biggest impact on your life.
Here are a few things that you can focus on to begin to correct the negatives and accentuate the positive.

Note: Feng Shui means “wind water” but I always say it also means “it depends.”  Your home is a reflection of who you are and sometimes who we are is just fine the way it is.  If you are gloriously happy and healthy, don’t change a thing.  If you want something different, now is the time to see how Feng Shui can help you.

1. Clutter — clutter here will prevent good everything.  Remove everything that doesn’t make your heart calm and happy.  This is where it gets most challenging for us, but if you can be clear about only what it is that you need, you’ll actually sleep better, loose weight (if you want to) and have more time in your life.  See the Clutter Clearing Challenge (Week 1 Day 6) to learn just how to approach clearing this space and getting healthy.

2. What do you see when you enter the room?  this sets the tone for what you’ll experience.  Make sure it’s restful, beautiful and calming.

3. Power Position — Place your bed where you can see the door and the entire room.  Not under a window or between and window and door, and don’t have your feet pointing out the door.  If your bed must be next to a door, place something as a barrier between the door and your body, like a nightstand with a lamp.

4.  Who’s with you and how do you honor that? Want to stay happily married or get married?  If you want an equal and joyful relationship, make sure both sides of the bed are equally accessible, have equally beautiful treatments and nightstands.

5.  Photos and Artwork:  what is the subject of the art? Is it beautiful and restful?  Remove abstracts and photos with water.  (It depends:  if you have your electronics in your room or you are sleeping with your office, that might be your way of balancing energy…but it’s a stop gap measure that is not the best.]   Remove images with racing, rushing or fast moving energy.  Place images of what it is that you want to create in your life…romance, health, vacation, etc.

Here are a few more Feng Shui tips for your all around better life:
  • Clear stuff from under your bed.
  • Make the view of the bed and from the bed beautiful.
  • Close the bathroom door and the bedroom door when you are sleeping.
  • Remove the photos that are not restful and beautiful.
  • Have only one (at most two) books per person in the room.
  • Remove the laundry and hampers from the room.
  • Cover, close or remove the TV, Computer, Exercise Eqt., Dog kennels, stored items, clothing (if you can) from your bedroom.
  • Remove (or cover) the mirrors from your bedroom.  Mirrors activate and duplicate and are a very powerful Feng Shui ‘cure’; but they don’t belong in the bedroom.
  • Make  your bed inviting and be sure you can get into bed without removing lots of pillows or things on your bed.  Simple is best for rest.
  • Soft, non-patterned sheets are best for rest and rejuvenation.  Colors:  warm and rich “flesh-tones” will bring your closer to your romantic and grounded self; light green or blue are “cool” colors but will spark independence (not much romance).  Bright primary colors are a ‘please don’t’ because they will cause too much energy, for instance bright yellow has been shown to actually cause a colicky reaction in small children, making them cry a lot. [Stay posted for more Color information.]
  • Smells?  Clearn, fresh scents are best.  For warmth and romance, try vanilla,  for rest and calm, use lavender.  Rose and Geranium are good for love and harmony (but only if you like them).
  • Pillows?  Change your pillows (or clean them) frequently (at least once a year).  Use UV Wand to clear any allergens from your pillows in the meantime.
  • Mattress:  if you are sleeping on the mattress from your old marriage, you are in trouble.  Change your mattress as often as you can.  If cost prohibits a swap right now, use the UV wand, and do a space clearing on it…then as soon as you can, buy a new mattress/box spring set.  Split box spring?  Danger for a happy marriage.  Cure?  Use a soft pink sheet over the box springs and under the mattress.  Place a heart-shaped rose quartz heart at heart level for both people (one each) underneath the mattress.

These are just a few of the tips that you can use to begin to make your life healtheir and richer.  Remember this:  Feng Shui means “wind water” but it really means “it depends”.  Your home, your energy and your rooms are unique and unlike everyone elses in the world.

What I write is a general overall good Feng Shui sense but there are usually circumstances that will change these recommendations. That’s the beauty of Feng Shui, it also means “Oh that’s easy, here’s how we can handle that…”

What’s wrong with that room?

First: It depends on who lives there, and there is a lot right with it but for a short answer: the floors look too slippery and bring in water energy that is not recommended in excess like this in a bedroom.

2) the ceiling fan creates disruption (sharp edges, shar chi, killing arrows, it can get scarier) it would be addressed in various ways,

3) there are more sharp arrows pointing down on the sleepers in the form of the tray ceiling which can cause discomfort and illness from the energy impact

4) art is of a single woman watching the bed–I am sure you can interpret that metaphor… Any questions or if you have similar issues, email me at fawn@fawnchang.com to arrange your own consultation.
